Michael Mifsud moved level with Burnley’s striker Andy Gray at the summit of the Coca-Cola Championship top goal scorers chart after Tuesday’s double against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns.

The 13-goal Malta international striker had missed City’s last three games through suspension after picking up a straight red card for elbowing Baggies defender Carl Hoefkens in the reverse fixture at the Ricoh Arena last month.

In fact the ‘Maltese Mosquito’ was eager to return to action and it was well-timed as besides revenging the Sky Blues 4-0 drubbing to WBA and his sending off, it also lifted also the mood of uncertainty over the club’s future.

The 26-year old striker’s 13 goals have been scored nine in the Coca-Cola Championship and four in the Carling Cup competition, two of them against English premiership champions Manchester United at Old Trafford.
