Contrary to reports in the Sunday newspapers, Coventry City and not Sammy Clingan pulled the plug on a £700,000 deal to take the midfielder from Norwich City to the Ricoh Arena.

A number of media reports suggested that the Northern Ireland international had ‘stunned’ Chris Coleman by snubbing a move but the Sky Blues insist the player’s agent was to blame, demanding a fee at the last minute despite not having any involvement in the deal.

Coleman told the Coventry Telegraph:’We have said all along, the Chairman and I, that we will not bend over for agents.’
