Steven Pressley has praised Gary McSheffrey’s reaction to being dropped and hinted that he may recall the player for the fixture with Leyton Orient this weekend.
The manager’s decision to drop/rest McSheffrey came on the back of him being the target for stick from supporters, frustrated at yet another wasted season for their club.
When you’ve seen a player dominate Championship defences it is hard to watch him struggle in League One. Add in the fact that McSheffrey is a local lad and he comes (unfairly for him) to be an on-pitch symbol of the club’s decline.
If he does start on Saturday it could be his last appearance at home in a Sky Blue shirt (there is still a year left on his contract but could both parties be looking for a way out this summer?) and it would be good to see him receive a warm reception and then, hopefully, take the game by the scruff of the neck.
