Coventry City registered their third consecutive win against League Two opposition in their final pre-season friendly by beating Bristol Rovers 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Andy Thorn has made a host of signings this summer but it is the one player he was allowed to purchase in last year’s transfer window who showed his worth to the Sky Blues as Cody McDonald netted both goals.

The City boss has been unable as yet to unearth another goalscorer and the burden of putting chances away will fall firmly on the former Norwich City man.

Latest capture Adam Barton started the game as well as youngster Billy Daniels.

Thorn’s men now face another League Two side away from home but this time in competitive action when they meet Dagenham & Redbridge in the League Cup on Tuesday.
