Coventry City and MK Dons will both look for a boost when they meet at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Three successive league defeats have firmly put the brakes on the Sky Blues mini-revival under Mark Venus while the managerless Dons are in the relegation zone themselves and suffered a damaging reverse at home to Chesterfield on Tuesday evening.
Richie Barker takes caretaker charge of the Dons for what he expects to be the last time, saying: ‘It’s important someone is in charge for the next league game, because the league form is what’s important here.’
Coventry City Team News:
Suspensions mean both Jamie Sterry and Marvin Sordell are unavailable to manager Mark Venus, who will hope to have Andy Rose available after injury. On-loan LA Galaxy forward Jack McBean is in line to make his full debut as Sordell’s replacement up front.
Player to watch: Jack McBean
All eyes will be on the bustling frontman if he does start the game as the focal point of the attacking three, hopefully able to bring in the players around him by holding up the ball and causing problems for defenders.
MK Dons Team News:
Summer signing Chuks Aneke finally made his Dons debut in midweek, as a late substitute against Chesterfield but caretaker manager Richie Barker has warned that the player is not ready yet to start a game.
Player to watch: Dean Lewington
Times may be changing off the field but Lewington remains a consistent presence on it, the 32-year-old defender once again a regular this season for the club he has made over 600 appearances for.
Match Facts & Stats
The Dons do seem to enjoy life on the road more than at home, winning four and drawing two of their away games to date. The Sky Blues, despite losing their unbeaten home record to Scunthorpe in their last game at the Ricoh Arena, have conceded just five goals at the Ricoh Arena in the league this season.
Andy Davies takes charge, assisted by Daniel Leach and Darren Blunden. Mr Davies booked two players in City`s 1-1 draw at Millwall earlier in the season.
FA Cup action for both sides as the Dons face former manager Karl Robinson, newly-installed at Charlton Athletic, and the Sky Blues travel to Cambridge United.
