Let’s all give it one last go!

One final effort.

That is what is needed from Coventry City’s coaching staff, players and supporters as the season enters its final two weeks and three games with the Sky Blues needing back-to-back home wins against Millwall on Tuesday night and Doncaster Rovers on Saturday to give themselves a chance of staying up going into the trip to Southampton on April 28.

The final post-mortem on the season remains to be written and, inevitably, much of it will focus on SISU and their representatives at the club. Neither the owners, the city council or those who have talked the talk on a takeover of the club will be able to look back on the campaign and say they did their utmost to prevent relegation into League One.

But Andy Thorn, his staff, his players and the fans who have backed them home and away (especially away) can reflect on a season where they have given it everything and where there has been a shared purpose in adversity that has made 2011/12, in some ways, enjoyable.

Frustrations with some decisions made by the manager or the inconsistencies of some players are understandable but, as a whole, City have been well represented by a group of good professionals (including plenty of home-grown youngsters) and by their perenially upbeat manager.

It could all end in tears on Tuesday night but not for want of trying from those wearing Sky Blue, both on the pitch and in the stands.
