‘Even though they’ve had a couple of poor results recently, they’ve actually been playing quite well. They could have beaten the leaders but ended up losing. That’s what the division’s like.’

That is the verdict of Leeds United manager Simon Grayson on his side’s weekend opponents Coventry City who travel to Elland Road without a win in any competition since mid-December and having thrown away leads in their last three fixtures.

This week has seen the first guarded criticisms by Aidy Boothroyd of those above him as the manager faced up to the prospect of losing teenage prospect Conor Thomas to Liverpool and being unable to make any signings in the transfer window.

Having said that the club is at a ‘crossroads’ he has however issued a battle cry ahead of the weekend, saying: ‘We’re going to find out what we’re all about on Saturday.

‘I am absolutely dying for it. I’m really looking forward to it because I’m ready for it and I want us as a club to be ready for it.’
