36 year old Carsley returns to Coventry on a one year contract and is available for the friendly on Saturday at Walsall.

Carsley will bring a wealth of experience to City and becomes the fifth signing of the Summer joining Gary McSheffrey, Richard Keogh, Stephen O’Halloran and Roy O’Donovan at the Ricoh.

He played for Coventry City between 2000 and 2002 at Highfield Road before moving onto successful careers at Everton and Birmingham City.

City manager Aidy Boothroyd was delighted to bring this very experienced midfielder to the Sky Blues. He said, on the official club website: ‘Lee is a winner and leader and having played at the highest level knows what is needed to win’.

Carsley barely featured for Blues last season but significantly he started 41 games when they were promoted from the Championship in 2008/09.
