Coventry City will come into contact with a number of old boys when they drop into League One next season, most notably midfielder Michael Doyle.

The Irishman remains under contract at Sheffield United where he is set to be part of a squad aiming to go one better in 2012/13 than their third-placed finish and subsequent play-off defeat this year.

Doyle was a popular figure during his time at Highfield Road and the Ricoh Arena and was a regular starter under a host of different managers from Gary McAllister through to Aidy Boothroyd.

His reliability meant games for the club and that has been repeated both at Leeds United (where he made 42 appearances on loan in 2009/10 as the Elland Road club gained promotion) and Bramall Lane where he was a virtual ever-present in the season just ended.
