Coventry City attempt to make an immediate return from League One to the Championship next season but history looks to be against the Sky Blues in their quest.

Of the 15 sides who fell out of the second tier in the five season prior to 2011/12 only 4 have come back up at the first time of asking.

Leicester City and Scunthorpe made immediate returns in 2008/09, followed by Norwich City (after losing their opening game of the League One season 7-1) a year later and Peterborough United in 2010/11.

The Canaries, along with Southampton (relegated in 2008/09) provide the aspiration for City to emulate while Luton Town (20067/07) are the warning sign that many Sky Blues supporters fear could be ignored until it’s too late.
