Rumoured Coventry City transfer target Adam Le Fondre continues to be linked with a move away from Rotherham United with just days remaining until the start of the Football League season.

A prolific goalscorer at lower league level over the past few seasons, ‘Alfie’ has been continually tipped to make the breakthrough at a higher level but as yet no-one has taken the plunge on the former Stockport County man.

The Sky Blues are keen to add to their attacking options after losing the services of Marlon King over the summer and with injury doubts surrounding Freddy Eastwood and Lukas Jutkiewicz but are not alone in watching Le Fondre closely as Sheffield Wednesday are also being linked with the player.

The Owls may be languishing in League One but, backed by Milan Mandaric, may be able to match any offer from the Ricoh Arena that comes in over the next few days.

Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield earlier this week, Rotherham chairman Tony Stewart said: ‘Things are hotting up and we are having enquiries about him. Coventry seem interested in a move and the dialogue is still going on with Sheffield Wednesday.’
