Coventry City gained a late point against Accrington Stanley on Saturday thanks to an equaliser from captain Michael Doyle which ensures that the Sky Blues head into a break from League One action in good spirits.
A point at home has to be viewed in the context of both the opponents and the run of form that precedes it and with Stanley flying high themselves and City having gone into the game on a winning streak then both teams can view their afternoon’s work at the Ricoh Arena in a positive light.
As expected, Mark Robins has been nominated for the League One Manager of the Month award having seen his team shake off an inconsistent start and firmly establish themselves in the top-half of the division over the course of October.
Always a manager who has taken the FA Cup seriously, as befits someone whose playing career will always be associated with the competition, Robins will want no let-up in the momentum when City (and a vocal travelling support) make the short trip to Walsall this coming Saturday.
He named a strong side for last season’s First Round match against Maidenhead and will presumably make only minor alterations against a Saddlers side just below them in the league table.
