The Coventry Telegraph has launched a petition, in the wake of last week’s news that the Sky Blues are considering alternative options to be their home ground next season, calling for CCFC to remain in Coventry and for both sides in an increasingly bitter dispute to come together for the sake of supporters.

While taking care to paint a balanced picture of the argument, the CT rightly lambasts both parties for ‘treating the club and its fans like pawns in some appaling game of brinkmanship’.

SISU remain the villains of the piece, of course, but ACL have not covered themselves in glory and there is still no figure for supporters to rally around in order to force a change. All that we can try and get at the moment is clearer communication and, at the very least, a promise that both parties will try their utmost to keep the club in their home city.

  • I think the Telegraph has to be leading the debate on this. The article is at pains not to be completely anti-SISU but in the absence of any ‘white knight’ or feasible solution to the ownership issues then the focus has to be on communication between the two parties and the supporters.
