Claus Jorgensen is the latest player still under contract to Coventry City to be told he can leave on a free transfer.

The 30-year-old midfielder has another year to run on his current deal and like Andy Morrell, Ady Williams and Clayton Ince will be back at City next season if he does not find a new club.

I have to say it didn’t come as a complete surprise and I had a feeling that he might be thinking that way,’ said Jorgensen.

‘In fact, I have probably known deep down that this was coming since before Christmas.

‘I scored against Millwall in a 1-0 home win and was dropped for the following game, after which I felt the manager had maybe made his mind up.

‘So I am disappointed because I feel I have done okay this season but not entirely surprised. That’s business and the manager has got money to strengthen the squad.’

Whatever happens to Jorgensen, he has already assured his place in the Sky Blues record books after scoring the first goal at the club’s new Ricoh Arena.
