Johnson: we knew the plan

Bristol City manager Gary Johnson felt his players dealt well with Coventry City’s main threat in Saturday’s 3-0 win at the Ricoh Arena.

‘We knew that Coventry had a game plan to get the ball forward to Dele Adebola very, very quickly,’ he said.

‘We had to compete and at the same time be very, very strong.

‘We knew if we defended well we could hit them on the break. It was a very, very good away performance.’

Vital View – no arguments with Gary Johnson’s assessment of the game. The Sky Blues had some success in the first-half by getting the ball into Adebola quickly but by the second were not getting people in to support the striker and in the absence of Mifsud had no real alternative to Plan A.
