With Arena Coventry Limited (ACL) having issued an administration order against Coventry City Football Club the prospect of a 10-point penalty being issued to the Sky Blues is looming larger.

Vital Coventry continues to struggle with the rights and wrongs of the financial situation engulfing the club but ACL are hopeful that their action, although it will penalise City in the short-term, ‘will ultimately put CCFC on a stable financial footing for the future’ and prevent SISU from pursuing liquidation. Administration is never a pleasant situation and harms far more people than just those involved with the football club but what other options exist to end his sorry saga?

Having had to endure the constant stream of bad news and blame around our club for a number of years now, weary CCFC fans may accept the ending of faint play-off ambitions in the hope that they have a club to support in the future.

***Update*** Further to the ACL statement being issued on Wednesday night come reports of a possible takeover by an American-based consortium.

ACL director Chris West told the Coventry Telegraph: “We believe there are other parties out there that could be interested.”
