Caretaker Coventry City manager Adrian Heath was left to rue the same old story after seeing his side beaten 3-2 at Plymouth on Monday night.

‘I couldn’t ask any more from the players,’ he said. ‘It was just sloppy goals and individual errors which cost us again – as they have been doing.

‘It’s not always stopping the last shot but stopping the opposition from getting into those positions.

‘A lot of the players out there showed the desire to win. It is dispiriting but we need to pick ourselves up.’

Plymouth manager Ian Holloway paid tribute to striker Barry Hayles, who caused the visiting defence plenty of problems.

‘Barry’s a born winner,’ he said.

‘If it’s tiddlywinks, he wants to win and I think he is showing that. I don’t know what I would do without him.

‘Barry’s finish was top drawer, class. I am delighted with the quality I have got out there on the pitch.

‘It was not the best of conditions, but I thought my lads were superb.’
