Football League clubs have had to wait just over a week for the chance to strengthen their squads, with the loan window opening on Tuesday.

Charlton boss Phil Parkinson is one manager looking to strengthen and told his club’s official website: ‘There is always the possibility as we go into next week that there will be a few more fresh faces.

‘Obviously there is competition from other clubs but despite Charlton’s league position, players still want to come here.

‘They can see it is a good club and that we have still got a fighting chance.’

The Sky Blues have indicated that they may do some deals to add to the January signings of David Bell and James McPake permanently and Lee Sawyer and Jordan Henderson on loan.
