Stern John looks to end a season of two halves on a high this weekend when he lines up for Coventry City against Cardiff aiming to continue his excellent recent run of goalscoring.

The Trinidad & Tobago international had an uncertain future to say the least when he returned from an unsuccessful loan spell at Derby in December, but has revived his Sky Blues career since then.

He told the Birmingham Post: ‘Since I came back, I have been working really hard, getting stuck in and doing the business which is all I ever wanted to do since I have been at Coventry.

‘I was starting to express myself and enjoy my football again, as the team started to play to my strengths.

‘I am not a big channel runner, as I like to get the ball to feet and link up play.

‘I think the manager believed in me a bit more and gave me a free role to drop in and link up with Dele. If I get the ball to me and play to my strengths, then I am a natural goalscorer.’

John will then link up with the T&T side that faces England in the World Cup, and knows that a good showing in Germany could see interest in him from the Premiership.

The ex-Birmingham City man said however: ‘I have made Coventry my home and want to continue playing for them.

‘I’m not going to turn my back on them. It would have to be something you can’t resist to move on.’
