How will Sky Blue crowds stand up?

Having sold just over 5,000 season tickets at the last count at least Coventry City will not be playing to a completely empty stadium next season but what sort of crowds will we get in the third tier of English football?

Last season’s average of just over 15,100 would make the Sky Blues the second-best supported team in League One behind Sheffield United and just ahead of Portsmouth.

However, healthy away followings from the likes of Leicester, Birmingham and West Ham made the 2011/12 figure look better and there will be no similar large travelling support coming to the Ricoh Arena in the coming campaign.

Barring a flying start to the season it is set to be the hardcore fans only who regularly make it out to CV6 next season and if City continue to struggle then some sub-10,000 gates may be posted.

Respectable enough for the division but lost in the 32,000 capacity stadium we currently inhabit.
