Chris Coleman admitted his Coventry City side deserved their defeat at Hillsborough on Saturday, although he aimed a broadside at the match officials following what he felt were two crucial decisions that went against the Sky Blues.

‘The two goals we gave away were poor and in every department we weren’t good enough,’ said the visiting boss, who was unhappy with a potential goal being ruled out and what he felt was a change of mind by the referee over a penalty call.

‘Sheffield Wednesday were better than us and deserved the three points, but there were two decisions which were major for us,’ added Coleman.

Describing his side’s display as ‘exceptionally good, Owls supremo Brian Laws commented: ‘We went 2-0 up and could have had more goals in the first-half.

‘The second-half was a workmanlike performance to ensure we didn’t lose the game.’
