Coventry City assistant manager Adrian Heath took Micky Adams’ place at the press conference following the 2-1 home defeat by Ipswich Town on Boxing Day.

‘He (Adams) didn’t come out because he was in the bath having a think about things and I am sure when he has had a good night’s sleep he will reflect on things and come up with a positive frame of mind to get the players up for Saturday,’ said Heath.

‘He’s a proud man and doesn’t want to be listening to that sort of stuff (from the crowd).’

Heath added: ‘The test now is who can play under the circumstances when the crowd start to turn?

‘Football is a very easy game when you are winning and everyone is confident, but when you are losing you can see an adverse reaction with one or two players.

‘So we will have to see who can stand up to that sort of pressure and our selection will reflect that.

‘The fans are disappointed. They have turned out for us again and we have let them down badly.’
