Gray day for Sky Blues

Coventry City head into the international break in the relegation zone of the Championship after a disappointing afternoon at Oakwell.

Andy Gray did the damage for home team Barnsley, netting either side of half-time to secure all three points.

Andy Thorn made three substitutions in and around the break but to no avail.

The Sky Blues boss questioned the penalty call for Barnsley’s first goal and his counterpart Keith Hill did not disagree but Thorn had few complaints apart from that, saying: “We were disappointing, it was our worst performance of the season so far, but I thought that Barnsley played well.

“We had a few chances in the second half, but they wouldn’t drop for us.”

Thorn remains admirably upbeat about his side but the alarm bells are ringing for many City fans, fully behind their manager as he wrings the most out of his meagre resources but increasingly miffed off about the negative air surrounding their club and the complete lack of movement on new signings.
