Ex-Coventry City goalkeeper Jonathan Gould has asked his dad, former Sky Blues player and twice manager Bobby to link up with him in charge of New Zealand Football Championship side Hawke’s Bay United.

Gould jr endured a nightmare first season in charge of the club, based in Napier, guiding them to just one win.

‘At my age, I have to come to enjoy it, but I’m here to win. I haven’t come all this way to get my backside kicked,’ Bobby told Hawke’s Bay Today.

‘We’d love to win the league and love to be up there at the end of the season, pressing the big boys.

‘If we can, so be it. But if we can’t aim for the moon, then you aim for the nearest star, and that’s the play-offs.’
