When Chris Coleman sits down with his staff in the summer to plot further additions to his Sky Blues squad, the full-back positions are likely to come under close scrutiny.
While City are well-stocked for options in the centre of defence, places look to be up for grabs on the flanks.
Stephen Wright has once again given his all for the cause but is Coleman’s decision to rest his skipper from the game against Sheffield Wednesday the cue for a longer-term change at right-back?
The classy Martin Cranie again looked unruffled in that position against the Owls but would seem to be more of a centre-half and is yet to show the kind of appetite for going forward that is just as much part of the make up of the modern full-back.
To that end Jordan Clarke, now fully-fit after an ankle injury, may get another chance to impress before the end of the season according to Sky Blues academy boss Gregor Rioch, speaking to the Coventry Telegraph on Tuesday.
On the other flank meanwhile, Chris Hussey feels he is now up to speed with life in the Championship after making the step up from Blue Square Premier side AFC Wimbledon earlier in the season.
He is surely set to start against Derby County at the weekend after replacing Marcus Hall at half-time last Saturday.
Marcus looked off the pace against the Owls and would surely only be a back-up next season if offered a new contract.
That leaves Hussey with a big chance to make himself first-choice for the 2010/11 campaign.
