Chris Coleman is working under a tight budget as the transfer window approaches but is hopeful of adding quality to his squad in January, or even before if any of his targets can be prised away on loan.

‘We are looking at every department and have lists of players in this country and others, and I hope December or January will be fruitful for us.”

The Sky Blues have resisted the temptation to enter the loan market so far this season, with the manager and chairman singing from the same hymn sheet in terms of not looking for a short-ternm fix.

“I saw that Wayne Routledge went on loan to Cardiff from Aston Villa but with the type of wages they are talking about we don`t want to be paying that because that would mean going round in a circle,” added Coleman.

“That`s why the club got into trouble before, so the players we bring in will fit in with our wage structure and we don`t want to break that.’
