Ex-Coventry City manager Roland Nilsson is the third favourite at 7/1 with the bookmakers to take over from Lars Lagerback as Sweden’s national team manager.

Lagerback is under pressure to quit after a below-par World Cup campaign, although he has said he will carry on until Euro 2008.

Nilsson, thrust into a role as Sky Blues player/boss after Gordon Strachan’s departure and unfairly sacked in many people’s opinion, has since returned to his homeland and has been manager of GAIS of Gothenburg since 2002.

After winning 116 caps for his country he would be a popular choice to take over the national team.

Also in the betting but much further down the list is former Sky Blues goalkeeper Magnus Hedman.
