Coventry City open their Championship campaign on Sunday, the opening fixture of the season moved back for live television coverage, such is the interest in their opponents Ipswich Town and their new(ish) manager.

Recent record: The two teams have met 14 times in the Championship since 2002 and Ipswich have had much the better of the clashes, a 2-1 win for the Sky Blues at the Ricoh Arena in December 2007 being their only victory.

Talking point: Traditionally seen as a conservative club, the arrival of Roy Keane as manager towards the end of last season signals a new era for Ipswich.

The Irishman may be controversial but he is never far away from the headlines and his presence ensures plenty of media coverage, as evidenced by the live coverage of this game.

What they’re saying: Ahead of the new season, Keane said of the challenge ahead: ‘It’s going to be a real test in the Championship with some tough away games and we’ll find out what the players are like then.

‘Some will inevitably fall by the wayside, it happens in football, but it’s a challenge I’m looking forward to and so should the players.’

Next up: League Cup action for both teams with the Sky Blues hosting Hartlepool United and a trip to Shrewsbury Town for Ipswich.
