Speaking after Coventry City’s 2-1 win at Barnsley in the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon, Sky Blues boss Steven Pressley was full of praise for match-winner Leon Clarke as he shouldered the striking burden in the absence of Callum Wilson.

‘I thought that Leon Clarke in particular was outstanding, leading the line.’

The Scot, whose side will now have a well deserved rest after a hectic Christmas schedule and with no game until next Sunday, was also pleased with the way City once again came from behind to win, the third time in the last four games they have done so.

For Barnsley, assistant manager Micky Mellon admitted that his side ‘lost a lot of the individual battles that you need to win’ as they failed to take advantage of an opening 30 minutes when they took the lead through Jim O’Brien and had other chances to extend it.

Update And the Tykes will be kicking themselves as they miss out on a trip to face Arsenal in Round 4 after Sunday’s draw sent the Sky Blues to the Emirates Stadium.
