Widely regarded as one of the best FA Cup finals, Coventry City’s 3-2 win over Tottenham in 1987 was watched in Portugal by one Jose Mourinho.

Ahead of Chelsea’s showpiece encounter with Manchester United this weekend, the Stamford Bridge boss said: ‘I’m not English but for me the FA Cup Final means a lot.

‘For me, it means remembering my youth, when I was a young fan and in love with the game.

‘There were a few trophies I always dreamed of winning, a few matches I always dreamed of participating in, and the FA Cup Final was one of those.

‘And something that at the time made it different was that the small team always could win the FA Cup Final. In Portugal, if the final is Porto against a small team, nobody believes the small team can win.

‘One final I remember is Coventry against Tottenham, in 1987. That was unbelievably great stuff. Even on the TV.’
