After seeing a number of their top players linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks, the latest Coventry City link with the top-flight is chairman Ray Ranson.

Reports on Monday morning suggest that the former Manchester City defender’s football background, together with his experience both in business and now of running a club, means he is in the frame for a chief executive’s job either at Liverpool or Newcastle.

‘It’s flattering that other clubs are taking an interest in what we’re doing at Coventry, but there’s a long way to go,’ the Daily Mail quotes Ranson as saying.
