England Under-21 Match To Honour Big Cyrille

|

England Under-21’s match against Romania, on Saturday 24th March at Molineux, will be the Cyrille Regis International as the Football Association remembers the popular striker who sadly died earlier this year.

All four of his former clubs, including Coventry City, will provide wreaths and there will also be a minute’s applause.

Under-21 (and former Sky Blues) boss Aidy Boothroyd told the FA website: ‘He was a fantastic footballer and he broke the ground for a lot of other black players to come through and play in the English leagues.

‘I met him and got to know him a little later on in life when I went into management and he was working in football and I always found him to be a real gentleman.’

City academy product James Maddison is among the England squad.
