Coventry City’s Michael Doyle is looking forward to linking up with the Republic of Ireland squad for a training camp in Portugal and then a friendly against Chile later this month.

The consistent midfielder was named on Monday in Steve Staunton’s 29-man squad, and is looking to add to his solitary international appearance to date, which came against Holland in 2004.

He told the Irish Independent: ?I?m just happy I?ve got my chance now to try and put things right.

‘I just hope I give a good account of myself during the training camp.

‘I?ll be going all out to impress the manager and, if I do enough, I might get a chance against Chile.?
