Coventry City manager Iain Dowie felt his side were worthy winners against Manchester United on Wednesday.
‘Our display was full of heart and desire, but we didn’t come to shut up shop – we passed well, created chances and put pressure on United,’ he said after Michael Mifsud’s double sent 11,000+ Sky Blues fans into dreamland.
‘They may have made changes but in Anderson, Nani, Michael Carrick, John O’Shea, Wes Brown and the rest they had tremendous players who cause you 100 problems in 100 different ways.
‘But we kept our shape well, our ball retention was good, and we refused to show too much respect.’
Sir Alex Ferguson had no complaints about the result. Read his comments here: ‘No excuses from Sir Alex’
