Dowie confident ahead of City opener

Iain Dowie believes his Coventry City side are ready for what will be a tough opening day test at Barnsley.

He told the Telegraph: ‘It would be great to start the campaign with an away win. That’s the goal but we certainly won’t be underestimating them because it will be a hard game.

‘I have been to Oakwell many times and they get a great atmosphere there and the first game of the season is always very special.

‘They are usually very frantic and very competitive but I think, physically, we are looking in very good shape and getting close to getting the injured lads back.’
