Does City’s season start here?

Coventry City fans were given rare grounds for optimism this week as the club, on the final day of the transfer window, made their first outfield signing of the summer.

Norwich City striker Cody McDonald made his move to the Ricoh Arena with plenty of glowing testimonies from Canaries’ supporters and former players such as Darren Huckerby, who tweeted ‘Good Luck to Cody McDonald at Coventry, always works his nuts off, got a good turn of pace and has a eye for a goal, nice lad too.’

Ben Turner’s departure was a disappointment but most fans are aware of the need to wheel and deal in order to make new signings and given the the fact that central defence is where the Sky Blues have the most options then it was a deal that made sense so as to finance McDonald’s arrival.

That would not have been the case had either Sammy Clingan or Lukas Jutkiewicz been sold and with Middlesbrough confirming that they had made a ‘substantial’ bid for Jutkiewicz it is good to see them still at the club.

SISU’s open letter will be subject to the test of time and actions but it looks as though we’re all stuck with each other for the foreseeable future so have no choice but to try and make the best of the situation for a mutually beneficial outcome.

City’s next game is a televised home clash with Derby County on Saturday 10th September and the under-fire club hierarchy do deserve praise for the ticket offer that they have introduced for this one, full details of which can be read on the official website by clicking here.

Televised games always knock a few thousand off the attendance and a measure to try and prevent this is very welcome, on top of the money coming in from Sky for the fixture.
