Coventry City visit Pride Park on Saturday, buoyed by their 2-0 win over Watford and a general lift in the atmosphere surrounding the team following Andy Thorn’s positive start as caretaker manager.

Another step towards 50 points and safety is the target for both the Sky Blues and Derby County who were well beaten by Cardiff City at the weekend.

‘The afternoon pretty much summed up quite a few of our performances this season,’ said Rams boss Nigel Clough, quoted in the Derby Evening Telegraph after the game.

‘We played well in patches, gave goals away, missed chances, could have had something from the game and yet lost 4-1.

‘It was another nearly performance.’

Leeds visit the East Midlands after Coventry and Clough added: ‘We will put it behind us and now we have two very important home games coming up.’

Sky Blues defender Martin Cranie meanwhile has said that he suffered from cramp in the win over Watford but not a recurrence of the hamstring injury that had previously kept him out of action. He told the Coventry Telegraph: “I am confident that’s me good for the rest of the season now.”
