Quote 1: ‘It’s not a good sign and I cannot keep saying the same things. You learn or you don’t.

‘You are good enough or you are not. And we are not.’

Quote 2: ‘I am wracking my brains to see what we are doing wrong. I am lost for words and I have no excuses and no explanations.

‘We had a bit of pride in the second half but we lost the game because in the first half we were very poor. The lads are tired, but so is everyone.’

Two similar quotes but one year apart, the first was Chris Coleman speaking after the final home game of last season when Coventry City lost a two-goal lead against Watford, part of a run of just one win from their final eleven league games.

The second was the Sky Blues boss after Easter Monday’s first-half capitulation at Reading which made it seven games without a win, leaving Coleman’s side closer to the drop zone than the play-off places.

Not many City supporters expected a top-six finish, even after the good run of form which culminated in the win at Peterborough backed by a large and loud travelling support.

But they also did not expect another lame end to the season, especially from a squad that is supposed to be better and deeper than last season.

It’s Deja Vu all over again!
