December Preview

|

Always a busy month in the football calendar, December throws up some tough fixtures for a Coventry City side looking to maintain their top ten position in League One and although defeat in the FA Cup First Round was a disappointment it did at least give Mark Robins side a weekend to recuperate after an excellent run of league form was ended in the rain at Fleetwood last Tuesday.

First up this month is an FA Cup rematch at Walsall that again promises to be a close game given the two sides are separated by only two points.

The following Saturday Luton Town are the visitors to the Ricoh Arena with the game marking the first ever Jimmy Hill Day.

Promoted alongside the Sky Blues from League Two last season the Hatters have shown no signs of their upward momentum ending and lie just outside the automatic promotion places.

A familiar face to Coventry supporters will be in the Shrewsbury dugout for the game in Shropshire on Saturday 22nd December as former skipper Sam Ricketts was this week named as the new man in charge at the Meadow after impressing in the first few months of his first managerial role at Wrexham.

Hopefully some good displays in those three matches will entice a bumper crowd out to CV6 for the Boxing Day clash with Charlton Athletic before 2018 ends with another home fixture against Southend United on Saturday 29th.
