With three home games to go, Coventry City currently lie 10th in the table of average crowds for the Championship, with a figure of 20,985 for the season to date.
That compares very favourably with last season when we were 14th on the list, with an average gate of 16,047.
Obviously the new stadium has brought in extra fans but on the pitch, City have also done their part, turning in an excellent second-half of the campaign at home, just when the novelty of coming to the Ricoh may have been wearing off.
Whenever there has been a good crowd in or a heightened level of expectation (QPR, Wolves, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United, Leeds), City have responded with a good performance, meaning more of those floating fans have returned the following week.
With season tickets in some parts of the ground reduced in price for next season, the club are aiming for 12,000 season-ticket holders, which doesn’t sound too many, but would be an increase on last year and another sign of City’s upward mobility.
