The beginning of January marks the opening of the transfer window and predictions that Coventry City will be busy in the market are already looking correct.

Having really settled into his role in the side over the past few games, Patrick van Aanholt has been recalled by Chelsea for the second half of the season as cover for Ashley Cole.

The Premier League leaders however, despite losing midfielders such as Michael Essien and John-Obi Mikel to the African Nations Cup have decided that Jack Cork can stay with the Sky Blues.

Another loanee, Leon Barnett of West Brom, is poised to become a permanent fixture in CV6, after impressing Chris Coleman at the heart of the defence since his arrival while a long-term deal for Gary Madine is also a possibility.

With Bohemians star Gary Deegan on his way to the Ricoh Arena next week, another midfielder, Carl Baker of Stockport County has been confirmed as a City target.

Despite playing in a struggling side in League One this season, Baker is already into double figures for the season.

Peter Halmosi of Hull City meanwhile has been mentioned in despatches as a possible target, one of a number of names set to be linked with Coventry over the next few weeks.
