13 weeks since the end of last season and Coventry City have finally made their first signing of the summer, sealing a protracted deal to land Norwich City midfielder Sammy Clingan for a fee that could eventually reach £1m.

The news however was clouded by Thursday night’s dramatic events as Celtic made a move for Danny Fox ahead of the Champions League signing deadline.

The classy left-back had already made his Bhoys debut by Friday evening and City fans were again left to rue the departure of another player with a long and successful career ahead of him.

With the need for new faces now reaching critical, City have again been linked with Jermaine Beckford of Leeds, as well as Macedonian striker Ilco Naumoski.

Goalkeeper Kieren Westwood however, one of two remaining ‘untouchables’ at the club, continues to attract Premier League interest.
