The transfer window opens in just over two weeks and Coventry City are cranking up to do some business both into and out of the Ricoh Arena.

Norwich City manager Glenn Roeder has been quick to dismiss reports that he will swap midfielder David Bell for Sky Blues defender Elliott Ward.

“This story does not originate from Norwich City. I know where it comes from and I am not happy,” he said, quoted in the Eastern Daily Press.

“Let me categorically state here and now that I have no interest in signing Elliott Ward and there is no possibility of David Bell leaving here in a swap deal.

‘He has only just started his Norwich City career, he is getting better and better all the time and I believe he will prove to be an absolute bargain signing.”

The Sky Blues search for new talent meanwhile could lead them to non-league star Robin Shroot.

The Northern Ireland Under-21 international, currently with Harrow Borough, looks however to be earning himself a deal with Birmingham City where he is currently on trial.

“He looks a good footballer, and he`s going to continue to train with us,” said Blues boss Alex McLeish, quoted in the Evening Mail.

“He`s a nice kid, he`s confident, he`s coming up to 21. You`d be looking at someone that age to be getting into your squad.”

Icelandic international Johann Berg Gudmundsson does look as though he could be joining compatriot Aron Gunarsson at the Ricoh Arena.

The 18-year-old was a guest of the club recently and is reportedly leaning towards continuing his career in England despite interest from AZ Alkmaar and Hamburg.

Going in the opposite direction meanwhile, Chris Coleman’s less than magnificent seven.

Seven City players are currently out on loan and almost all are unlikely to come back according to Coleman.

Kevin Kyle, Gary Borrowdale and Chris Birchall, Kevin Thornton, Dimi Konstantopolous, Julian Gray and Donovan Simmonds are the men in question.
