Coventry City travel to Ipswich on Monday night for their second successive live TV outing and will be hoping to continue the progress of recent games, which culminated in the 2-0 win over Derby County on Saturday.

Gary McSheffrey was kept on the bench for that game but a reserve team hat-trick in midweek has put him into contention for the trip to Portman Road as Andy Thorn reaps the benefit of increased competition for places.

That applied to the goalkeeping department too where Chris Dunn made an assured debut after coming on at half-time against the Rams for the injured Joe Murphy.

The summer signing from Northampton has been praised by Thorn for his hard work in training with City goalkeeping coach Steve Ogrizovic since joining the club.

Dunn’s transition to the first team was helped by the fact that a settled defence is currently up among the Championship’s best with only 5 goals conceded in 6 games to date.

Martin Cranie has played a big part in that record and believes he is reaping the benefit of playing in his favoured centre-half position.

‘I think Richard Keogh and I have formed a good partnership at the back and it`s looking solid, and long may that continue,’ he told the Coventry Telegraph.
