Cody McDonald, David Bell and Gary McSheffrey were all on target for a Coventry City reserve side on Tuesday as they defeated Oxford United 4-0.

All three will come into contention for Saturday`s trip to face Portsmouth at Fratton Park where on-loan midfielder Gary Gardner is likely to start for the Sky Blues following his debut goal at Brighton last weekend.

Andy Thorn is keen to keep the Aston Villa man beyond his intial deal, telling the Coventry Telegraph: “He`s got some quality, there is no question about that and we want to keep him.”

City paid out £220,537 in agents` fees in the year from October 2010.

Former boss Aidy Boothroyd meanwhile has been named as the new manager of League Two side Northampton Town.
