Coventry City were beaten 2-1 at home by Scunthorpe United on Saturday afternoon to leave them hovering just above the League One relegation zone.

Carl Baker gave the hosts the lead, responding to his manager’s call in midweek for him to get his name on the scoresheet more.

In the battle of the in-form loan strikers, though, it was Scunthorpe’s Leon Clarke who would settle this game, netting from the spot before half-time before his 76th minute winner.

Another step back then for the Sky Blues after the midweek win against Crawley and another lead overturned by their opponents as Mark Robins continues the search for the winning formula.

Match Reaction: Robins told the official CCFC website that he was disappointed with the lack of tempo from his side, who looked ‘flat’ according to the manager.

Brian Laws, meanwhile, felt Scunthorpe had ‘far the better of the game’ despite late chances for the home sides and disquiet over some of the decisions made by the referee, notably the visitors’ equalising penalty.
