Saturday’s big League One game at the Ricoh Arena saw Coventry City look to continue their unbeaten run of the past few weeks against a Notts County side flying high in the division and without a defeat in thirteen away games coming into the match.

Mark Robins had had the luxury of a full week on the training ground with his players while the Magpies were looking to bounce back from a heavy home reverse against Sheffield United in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

Robins named an unchanged side with Callum Ball and David McGoldrick (linked with County on Saturday morning) again partnered up front. Former Sky Blues striker Lee Hughes meanwhile was on the bench for the visitors with ex-Highfield Road loanee Dean Leacock passed fit to play.

An even first-half was tilted in County’s favour when Andre Boucaud opened the scoring on 39 minutes.

City continued to press for an equaliser after the break with Cody McDonald brought on to join Ball and McGoldrick but it was the visitors who looked to have made the game safe thanks to Arquin’s strike.

Richard Wood, however, gave the hosts a lifeline with a header and to their credit the Sky Blues kept going forward in search of another goal which proved elusive.
