Coventry City stand on the verge of relegation to League One after failing to make the most of a host of chances against Millwall on Tuesday night.

The Sky Blues’ control of the game culminated in a penalty being awarded on 56 minutes but, in probably the final twist to their season, Gary McSheffrey’s shot was saved by Maik Taylor.

City struggled to make an impression after that moment and were left deflated by Shane Lowry’s headed goal 10 minutes later.

Bristol City’s draw with West Ham leaves a mathematical possibility that relegation can still be avoided but few supporters trudging out of the Ricoh Arena will be believing in miracles.

Reaction to follow on Vital Coventry.
