Coventry City once again aimed for a much-needed win on Saturday afternoon when they took on Hull City at the Ricoh Arena.

But the Tigers went into the game full of confidence following home victories over Leicester City and Birmingham City in the past week.

Looking short of confidence from the off the Sky Blues were still more than a match for a side challenging for the play-offs and came closest to scoring in the first-half when Richard Wood hit the post when it looked easier to score.

But, continuing on the path they have trodden all season, the home side gifted Hull a goal and, despite some huffing and puffing, were unable to make any impact at the other end.

The long-suffering City fans trudged off in weary resignation at the end with those tuning in to BBC CWR hearing tales of Director of Football Operations Ken Dulieu sitting on the bench during the game and ‘billionaire’ investors taking in an interest in the club. Once again the off-field soap opera providing the focus as the Sky Blues slide inexorably towards League One.

Reaction from Andy Thorn afterwards: “I thought we looked really edgy in the first half. We had some good opportunities to take the lead, a great chance when we have hit the post but when things don’t go for you they won’t go for you. “

The defining moment is when they loft the ball into our box, we don’t deal with it and the ball ends up in the back of our net.

“That’s hard to take considering we kept going and gave everything and created opportunities but when your luck is not in it’s not there and it just wouldn’t fall for us.”
