Coventry boss loses court case

Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan has won his court battle against Iain Dowie over his exit from the club last summer.

The case was based on the £1m compensation clause that was in Dowie’s contract were he to leave for another club.

That was waived for personal reasons as Dowie wanted to move back nearer his family. However he then took the job as Charlton Athletic boss.

‘I took a man to the high court for fraudulent misrepresentation, and he’s been found guilty,’ said Jordan.

‘I think it’s a good day for football because managers’ contracts and what people do and say in football, as the national game, are very important.

‘And I think that having the courage of your convictions to take it to the high court and bring an action – a very difficult action to prove, fraudulent misrepresentation – and be successful, is a good thing.

‘So I am pleased from that perspective.’
